6th Grade Math- We have just finished studying decimals and all operations involving decimals. We will be entering into integers this week. This is a fancy word for positive and negative numbers. They will be identifying words that represent positives and negative. They will also be graphing on a number line and learning how to compare/order integers.
7th Grade Math: They are finishing up their study of integers and the coordinate plane. They have created some neat pictures using only points and lines. Next for the 7th grade will be fractions- GCF, LCM, and all operations.
8th Grade Math: The 8th graders enjoyed their field trip to learn about the construction industry. The hands on field trip allowed students the opportunity to operate a jackhammer, raise/lower a scoop on a tractor, and wire a light bulb, just to name a few activities. They walked away with a lot of useful information on what a career in these fields require. In the classroom, they will begin comparing rational vs. irrational numbers. This unit will take a closer look at fractions, decimals, and whole numbers and how they can be changed between each other.
