We have officially passed the halfway point of the first grading period. Progress reports went home and students were made aware of their current status in their classes. I have told many of them that what they have now can be maintained or changed for the better or worse. It is up to them and your support to help them achieve success over the next 3 1/2 weeks or so. Keep working hard and you will be just fine some October when your quarter ends. I know you can do it!
Parent-teacher-student conferences are coming in October. You and your child will attend the conferences this year for a student led conference. At this time your student will present their work and assessments from the 1st quarter to discuss. More information will come as the dates near.
This week in math:
6th: The 6th graders are working on multiplying and dividing decimals. They will also look into solving more word problems and using different strategies.
7th: They are going to be plotting points and creating pictures in the coordinate plane. They will also do some transformations: translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations of shapes.
8th: The 8th graders will be attending a construction fair expo out at the Peoria Expo Gardens on Wednesday. This is an opportunity for them to see trades such as electricians, steel workers, and painters up close with hands on activities. They will meet with workers from the field and learn how to get into such fields after high sc
