Quarter 2 is off and running. We are going to continue working on writing in the math class through our problem solving. I am also going to require more Moby Max lessons from our students to help improve their overall math skills. Feel free to continue working on basic math skills outside of the classroom
6th Math: This week will challenge the 6th graders. We are starting to add integers, numbers with positive and negative signs. They will be learning to add using a line model for the first few days before moving into mental math. We will play addition war with our playing cards to practice this new skill.
7th Math: After spending a few weeks finding the GCF, simplifying fractions, comparing, and ordering fractions, it's time to add and subtract rational numbers. The butterfly method will be used to add/subtract rational numbers before simplifying to get the final answer.
8th Math: The 8th graders are finishing up their rational/irrational numbers unit this week with a test. Before the test, they will investigate the Pythagorean Theorem and it's relationship to right triangles and everyday life.
