6th Grade: The 6th graders finished up their $1,000,000 projects before break and most of them did an outstanding job. They found how difficult it was to spend a $1,000,000 on only 20-30 items. This next unit will allow them to look at inequalities. They will write, graph, and solve inequalities. They have been working with equations so this will be a new direction for them.
7th Grade: These students did a nice job researching a mathematician. They learned where many of the math concepts they learn originated and how some of the concepts were developed. They enjoyed working on this project. They will be looking at inequalities as well. They will be taking a more in depth look at how inequalities can be solved and graphed.
8th Grade: The 8th graders are going to start basic inequalites and work their way up to compound inequalities. This will be new to them as they have been working on solving simple inequalities so far.
All students will continue to complete problem solving activities to work on explaining the work. They need to tell what they do and why they do the work. In addition, small projects will be assigned as the quarter progresses.
