6th Math: The students are working hard learning about integers. We have focused on comparing positives and negatives and ordering them this week. There were some intense games of integers war played to practice comparing +,- numbers. We will look at the coordinate plane this week and learn how to find points on the plane and how to plot points. The students will be given the opportunity to create coordinate pictures using points.
7th Math: The 7th graders are in the middle of the number theory (fractions) unit. We have learned how to find prime factors and the greatest common factor. This week we'll look at simplifying fractions, identifying least common multiple, and identifying rational numbers.
8th Math: The 8th graders have been working on a rational/irrational number unit. They are at the end of this unit. They will investigate irrational numbers and compare/contrast them to rational numbers. In addition, they'll be plotting irrational numbers on a number line.
**All of the students will continue working on explaining their work while completing word problems. They should continue to use the 5 step problem solving plan to solve these word problems.
**This week we began using Moby Max, an online program geared to the common core standards. They take a test and then complete lessons to help strengthen skills ranging from decimals to fractions to ratios. We will be completing lessons weekly to help improve their math skills.
Have a great week! Keep working hard! Stay ahead of the work!
